Hundreds of inmates across Indonesia are receiving sentence reductions, known as remisi, in honor of the nation's 81st Independence Day. In East Kalimantan, 726 inmates at Tenggarong Prison were granted remisi, with 15 released. Similar reductions were given to 518 inmates at Kediri Prison in East Java and 419 at Lamongan Prison in East Java, where 8 inmates gained immediate freedom.
