10-year-old injured after falling from moving school transport in Monterrey when door opened during maneuver

A 10-year-old girl was thrown from a moving school transport vehicle in Monterrey after one of its doors opened during a maneuver.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Comisión Tripartita and Día del Trabajo in the Valle de Infonavit neighborhood. Emergency crews from Nuevo León and Monterrey Civil Protection, the Mexican Red Cross, Monterrey police and the municipal Mobility Department responded.

According to the state Civil Protection report, the operator said the girl was near the emergency door when the vehicle entered a roundabout. The door opened during the maneuver, causing her to fall onto the pavement.

Paramedics treated the girl at the scene and identified pain in her lower jaw, kneecap and right arm, as well as superficial injuries to her right arm and leg. After receiving care, her father said he would take her for further medical evaluation himself.

Authorities have not yet reported whether the vehicle had a current permit or the physical and mechanical inspection required for operation.
