10-Year-Old Murder Case Solved in Denizli: Ex-Husband Confesses to Killing Ayşen Aycan

Denizli, Turkey – Justice, though delayed, has finally arrived for Ayşen Aycan, a young woman whose life was tragically cut short in 2016. After a decade of agonizing uncertainty, the truth behind her disappearance has emerged: she was murdered by her ex-husband, Turgay Bekdeda, who has now confessed to the heinous crime.

The case, initially filed as a missing person report, was reopened by the Çivril Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as part of a broader initiative to address unsolved cold cases. Dedicated teams from the Denizli Provincial Police Department's Homicide Bureau meticulously re-examined the evidence, interviewed witnesses, and conducted a thorough investigation. Their persistence led to the apprehension of six individuals, including Bekdeda, on May 19th.

Under intense cross-examination, Turgay Bekdeda finally broke his silence, admitting that he killed Ayşen Aycan ten years ago. He recounted how he picked her up from her mother's house, argued with her in the car, and ultimately killed her before burying her body in a secluded field between the Kıralan and Tokça neighborhoods. His confession provided the crucial lead needed to bring closure to this painful chapter.

Following Bekdeda's directions, excavation teams unearthed human bone fragments at the indicated site. These remains were sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for identification. While five other individuals detained in connection with the case were released by the prosecutor's office, Bekdeda, the confessed killer, has been remanded in custody by the Çivril Courthouse.
