100 sets of fallen soldiers' remains found at Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have discovered 100 sets of remains and two collective sets of remains belonging to fallen soldiers at Le Thi Rieng Park. The ongoing excavation efforts, led by the Martyrs' Remains Collection Team of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command, have been diligently searching the park.

The city needs to mobilize the strength of the entire political system, scientists, historical witnesses, and the people; at the same time, expand the review of locations that may still have the remains of fallen soldiers, not only in Le Thi Rieng Park but also in areas that have experienced fierce battles.

On July 18, the team unearthed four additional sets of remains and accompanying artifacts, bringing the total number of collected remains to 100. This significant find underscores the park's historical importance and the sacrifices made during past conflicts.

President To Lam visited the site on July 17, emphasizing the critical political importance of collecting and identifying the remains of fallen soldiers. He urged the city to mobilize all resources, including political systems, scientists, historical witnesses, and the public, to expand the search beyond Le Thi Rieng Park to areas that experienced intense battles.

The Ministry of National Defence, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command, and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee need to promote their core role, build a shared database, share information and experience, and coordinate closely with localities to speed up the search progress throughout Military Region 7.

The President also called for enhanced cooperation between military commands and local authorities to build a shared database and accelerate the search process. Central ministries were asked to improve policies, promote digital transformation, and utilize advanced technologies like DNA analysis and geophysics, along with international archival resources. President Lam also advocated for international collaboration to gather war maps, records, and witness accounts from nations involved in past conflicts. He stressed the importance of publicizing these stories to foster patriotism and revolutionary ideals among the youth.

Central ministries and agencies are requested to continue to perfect mechanisms and policies; promote digital transformation, apply artificial intelligence, DNA technology, geophysical technology, and exploit domestic and international archival resources.

President Lam approved the continuation of the "500-day and night campaign" for collecting and identifying martyrs' remains with increased determination, scale, and effectiveness. He proposed that the successful model implemented in Ho Chi Minh City and Military Region 7 be studied and replicated nationwide, aiming to maximize the recovery and identification of fallen soldiers' remains, allowing them to be returned to their families and hometowns.

Strengthen international cooperation, exploit war maps, records, images, and witness information from countries that have participated in the war; at the same time, promote propaganda, spread stories about the journey of searching for martyrs to educate patriotism and cultivate revolutionary ideals for the younger generation.
