100 US Servicemembers Injured So Far in War Against Iran

The United States has sustained nearly 100 non-lethal casualties among its service members since the commencement of the war against Iran on July 7, adding to the 16 reported deaths. Iran has declared a "full-scale war" and is actively bombarding U.S. bases in the Middle East.

The conflict's impact extends beyond direct military engagement, with Houthi forces in Yemen blocking the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait and the Strait of Hormuz remaining impassable. This disruption of vital shipping lanes is severely affecting global trade and energy supplies.

Southeast Asian nations are particularly hard-hit, as the region relies on these straits for 60 percent of its energy. The Philippines has declared a state of emergency due to fuel shortages, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) issued a joint statement expressing deep concern over the developments.

"We are deeply concerned that these developments severely undermine the ongoing efforts of key mediators and diminish the prospects for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy," the ASEAN statement read. Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth is scheduled to appear before the U.S. Congress for the first time since the war began.
