12-Year-Old Arrested for Motorcycle Theft Alongside Accomplice in General Paz Incident

Buenos Aires police apprehended two underage individuals, a 12-year-old and a 16-year-old, following the theft of a motorcycle in the Belgrano neighborhood. The incident highlights the persistent issue of juvenile crime in the city, raising concerns among residents and authorities alike.

The swift police response, utilizing security cameras and initiating a pursuit, led to the apprehension of the suspects on General Paz avenue. The chase concluded when the stolen Benelli motorcycle collided with a parked vehicle. This dramatic end to the pursuit underscores the risks involved in such activities, not only for the perpetrators but also for public safety.

The suspects, who were on board the vehicle at high speed on General Paz avenue, at the height of the Dellepiane Highway, towards Riachuelo, were intercepted by police officers after being identified by the City of Buenos Aires security cameras.

According to police reports, the younger of the two minors confessed to having stolen the motorcycle from a residence in Belgrano. This admission, coupled with the discovery of tampering with the vehicle's ignition, provides clear evidence of the crime. The incident occurred on April 17th at approximately 3:35 PM.

Both teenagers required medical attention following the crash. The 12-year-old suffered fractures to his tibia, fibula, and knee, while his 16-year-old accomplice sustained an open fracture to his tibia. They were transported to Gandulfo Hospital under police guard. The case has been assigned to the National Criminal and Correctional Court for Minors No. 3, initiating a legal process to address the actions of these young offenders.

The 12-year-old driver spontaneously admitted that they had stolen the vehicle from in front of a house in Belgrano, a version that was confirmed minutes later by the owner of the vehicle upon appearing in the area.
