14-y-o MoBay High student is Junior Tourism Minister

A 14-year-old student has earned the title of Jamaica's Junior Minister of Tourism after winning a prestigious public speaking competition. Thaejadore Kerr, representing Montego Bay High School for Girls, emerged victorious in the finals of the Minister of Tourism Public Speaking Competition.

The competition saw intense debate and impressive oratory skills from students across the island. Kerr's compelling performance secured her the top spot, ahead of Govaunia James from Manning's School, who took second place, and Nathan Clarke from Glenmuir High School, who finished third. The finals were held at the Sandals Ochi Beach Resort in Ocho Rios.

Kerr's win is not just a personal achievement; it signifies her role as a young ambassador for Jamaica's tourism sector. She is now set to represent the nation on a larger stage, competing in the Caribbean Tourism Organization's (CTO) regional finals. These finals are scheduled to take place in Guyana later this year, where she will compete against peers from across the Caribbean.
