16-year-old denies knife murder of fellow student

A 16-year-old student is facing charges for the fatal stabbing of another 16-year-old student outside Folkeparken in Roskilde, Denmark. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the back and chest. The accused appeared in court for a preliminary hearing, where he pleaded not guilty through his defense attorney.

Prosecutors allege the attack occurred on a street corner near Folkeparken. The Mid- and West Zealand Police stated that the stabbing is believed to have been the result of an internal conflict between the two teenagers, which escalated when they encountered each other at a public event. The gathering in Folkeparken was reportedly a school start party for students from the local gymnasium.

During the court hearing, the senior prosecutor requested the proceedings be held behind closed doors, citing the early stage of the investigation and the need to interview numerous witnesses, including those present at the scene and relatives of both the victim and the accused. While initial police reports suggested no other perpetrators were at large, the prosecutor indicated that the possibility of accomplices could not be ruled out.
