173 Villages Flood-Hit in Uttar Pradesh; Over 4,000 Relocated

Flooding has inundated 173 villages in 13 districts across Uttar Pradesh, India, prompting the relocation of more than 4,800 residents to safer grounds. The state's relief commissioner, Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod, reviewed the situation and directed district magistrates to ensure flood-affected populations receive adequate food, medical facilities, and essential relief materials.

Authorities have established 1,589 flood outposts and 1,263 shelters, with 41 currently housing 1,045 people. Over 4,800 individuals have been moved from affected areas. Relief operations include the deployment of 428 boats and motorboats, along with 1,101 local divers. Food packets and lunch packets have been distributed to those impacted.

So far, 173 villages in 13 districts have been affected by floods.

To manage potential emergencies, 16 National Disaster Response Force teams and State Disaster Response Force teams are on the ground, supported by Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel in 52 districts. Between August 1 and August 18, 2026, 140.52 crore SMS alerts were sent to disseminate weather warnings, with ongoing communication through social media regarding flood prevention and safety measures.

The flood situation is currently normal and under control, and district administrations have been kept fully active to shift flood-affected people to safer locations and provide them with food, medical care and essential relief material.
