18th Century Human Remains Found During Trench Digging in Kyrgyzstan

An unexpected archaeological discovery has been made in the Naryn region of Kyrgyzstan, offering a glimpse into the area's past. While routine work was underway to lay a water supply pipeline in Baetov village, Ak-Talin district, workers unearthed human skeletal remains.

The discovery, made on May 16 by local residents, immediately drew the attention of the district's internal affairs department. The bones were found at the intersection of Saparaly Arkabaev and Asankana Emilbekov streets. Museum officials, including Zeynep Zanalieva, director of the Ak-Talin District Historical and Ethnographic Museum, were promptly informed.

Preliminary assessments by museum staff suggest the remains could date back to the 18th century. To confirm this and gather more information, the bones have been transported to Bishkek for comprehensive forensic and historical examination. The findings from this expert analysis are eagerly awaited, as they may shed light on the historical population and events in the Ak-Talin district.
