19-year-old arrested for stealing school cable in Ecatepec

Municipal police in Ecatepec, Mexico, apprehended a 19-year-old man identified as Luis Esteban "N" for allegedly stealing 11 meters of copper cable from a primary school. The incident occurred in the Ciudad Cuauhtémoc neighborhood. Officers from sector 14 observed the suspect exiting the "Sóstenes Rocha" primary school and jumping over the fence while carrying black cable. He attempted to flee upon seeing the police but was ultimately arrested. Authorities reported that Luis Esteban was found with 11 meters of black plastic-coated copper cable, believed to be part of the school's hydraulic infrastructure. He also carried a metal-bladed knife and metal pliers. The suspect is reportedly linked to other school burglaries in the municipality. He has been presented to the state prosecutor's office, where his legal situation will be determined. A social media video also reportedly shows him attempting to enter another primary school, "Ignacio Manuel Altamirano."
