19-year-old student joins government on $1.9 million salary

Chile’s Interior Ministry hired Cristóbal Soto, a 19-year-old first-year journalism student, to support the government’s social-media communications.

Soto studies journalism at the University of the Andes and will work under a fee-based contract. The reported remuneration is 1.9 million pesos.

The position carries the title “Social Media,” according to the report.
