1st step of last phase in terror-free Türkiye process

Türkiye has taken a significant step towards eliminating terrorism and fostering social cohesion with the establishment of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee. This body, operating under a new law, held its inaugural meeting under the chairmanship of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. The committee includes key ministers and heads of intelligence and security agencies, signaling a high-level commitment to the initiative.

The committee has outlined a clear roadmap for its operations, focusing on inter-institutional coordination to implement the 'terror-free Türkiye' legislation. Four specialized subcommittees have been formed: Judicial and Legal Coordination, Monitoring and Assessment, Social Cohesion and Integration, and Disarmament and Strategic Coordination. These groups will handle tasks ranging from classifying legal files of surrendered militants to managing the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals who lay down their arms.

The initiative's success hinges on the National Security Council verifying the cessation of armed activity by terrorist organizations. The ultimate goal is to consolidate social cohesion at the national level, which Türkiye believes will position it to influence regional actors toward greater stability, security, and prosperity. The project is backed by broad social and political consensus.
