2 cops killed in Sultan Kudarat ambush

Two police officers were killed in a violent ambush Tuesday night in Barangay Tinumigues, Lambayong town, Sultan Kudarat province. Patrolman Apollo Morante Pagurayan and Patrolman Joerel Basilan Bullos, both members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12, were traveling on a motorcycle after completing a public service mission when they were attacked.

The officers, who were in uniform, were reportedly ambushed by gunmen armed with assault rifles. The assailants were positioned along the highway in Barangay Tinumigues. Pagurayan died instantly from the wounds he sustained during the attack. Bullos was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival by medical personnel.

Pagurayan and Bullos belonged to the 1202nd Company of the RMFB 12, a rapid deployment unit operating in areas with remnants of former terror groups. Police and military officials confirmed that investigators from the police and the Army's 6th Infantry Division are collaborating to identify the gunmen. The goal is to bring those responsible for the atrocity to justice.
