20 friends rent house to watch World Cup together in Argentina

A group of 20 friends in Argentina is recreating a viral experience from the 2022 World Cup, renting a house together to watch the 2026 tournament. This year, they have chosen a home in the Villa Urquiza neighborhood of Buenos Aires, expanding from their previous setup of ten friends in Olivos for the Qatar World Cup.

The idea is to share moments and watch as many matches as possible.

Dubbed "La Casa del Mundial" (The World Cup House), the friends documented their 2022 experience, which included extensive barbecues and lively parties, gaining significant attention on social media. They are now sharing their preparations for the upcoming World Cup on their Instagram account, @lacasadelmundial2026, which has amassed over 60,000 followers.

We are a fairly large group, there will be 20 of us in this new experience.

Agustín Slupski, one of the organizers, told La Nación that the primary goal is to "share moments and watch as many matches as possible." He noted that many in the group have known each other since childhood. While the 2022 house in Olivos featured a park, grill, and pool, they had to find a new location as that house was sold. The current house in Villa Urquiza includes a quincho (barbecue area) and will be decorated for the event.

The friends, all around 32 years old, plan to gather for Argentina's matches and will also organize viewings for other significant games. They have already announced plans to watch the upcoming matches between Mexico and South Africa, the United States and Paraguay, and Brazil and Morocco. The group's enthusiasm for the tournament and their shared experience is palpable as they prepare for another World Cup together.
