200 kilos of methamphetamine seized in Sonora, hidden in industrial reels

Federal and state authorities in Sonora have successfully intercepted a significant drug shipment, seizing approximately 200 kilograms of methamphetamine. The illicit substance was discovered concealed within industrial wooden reels being transported on a commercial delivery truck.

The operation took place on the international highway México 2 in the municipality of Caborca. During a security inspection accompanied by surveillance patrols, officials stopped a truck from a package delivery company. A subsequent search of the cargo area revealed modifications and irregularities in the wooden reels, which were ostensibly carrying hoses.

Inside these reels, law enforcement officers found the substantial quantity of methamphetamine. The estimated economic impact of this seizure on organized crime is over 50 million pesos, preventing thousands of doses from reaching the streets. The authorities involved in the operation included elements from the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC), the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of National Defense (Defensa), the Attorney General's Office (FGR), and the Sonoran Secretariat of Citizen Security.

The driver of the truck, along with the confiscated drugs and vehicle, has been handed over to the Public Ministry. This official will now compile the investigation file and determine the legal status of the detained individual. This seizure represents a continued effort by the Mexican government's security cabinet to disrupt drug trafficking routes and undermine criminal organizations.
