2025 WAFCON victory: FG presents houses to Super Falcons ahead of Malawi clash

Nigeria's Super Falcons have officially received their rewards for winning the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, a year after their triumph. The Federal Government presented each player with a cash gift of $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment as part of the "Renewed Hope Housing Estate" initiative.

The presentation took place in Rabat, Morocco, just before the team's opening match in the 2026 WAFCON, where they are defending champions. The National Sports Commission Chairman, Shehu Dikko, and Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, handed over the rewards.

NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and NFF GS Mohammed Sanusi on Tuesday presented the 2025 WAFCON triumph rewards promised by the FGN to the Super Falcons.

Dikko explained that the housing rewards were deliberately delayed to ensure all players could be present for the official handover. He expressed confidence that this gesture would boost the team's morale as they begin their quest for an 11th continental title. The cash rewards had previously been paid into the players' individual bank accounts after administrative procedures were completed.

The Super Falcons, record 10-time winners of the WAFCON, are competing in Group C of the 2026 tournament against Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt. The competition, held in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.

We decided to delay the presentation of the keys because we wanted a situation whereby the players would be together. I am sure it will boost their morale ahead of the 2026 WAFCON, which kicks off in Morocco in a few days.
