2026-2027 Süper Lig Season Named in Honor of Adnan Süvari

The upcoming 2026-2027 Trendyol Süper Lig season in Turkey will be dedicated to the memory of Adnan Süvari, a significant figure in Turkish football history. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has a tradition of naming league seasons after influential coaches and former national team players to honor their contributions to the sport.

Adnan Süvari's coaching career is marked by considerable success, particularly with Göztepe. He led the İzmir-based club to the semifinals of the UEFA Fairs Cup during the 1968-1969 season. This achievement was historic, as it marked the first time a Turkish team had advanced to the semifinals of a European club competition under his guidance.

Beyond his European success, Süvari also led Göztepe to win two Turkish Cups and one Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası (President's Cup). His influence extended to the national level, as he also served as the head coach of the Turkish national football team. Furthermore, Süvari contributed to the administration of Turkish football, holding positions within the TFF during different periods.
