2026 Emmy Awards nominations: ‘The Pitt’ and ‘Hacks’ lead the pack

The nominees for the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards were unveiled Wednesday, with the emergency room drama "The Pitt" and the comedy series "Hacks" dominating the nominations. "The Pitt" leads all contenders with an impressive 25 nods, while "Hacks" secured 24 nominations for its concluding season.

"The Pitt" had a strong showing last year, winning awards for best drama series, best actor for Noah Wyle, and best supporting actress for Katherine LaNasa. Both Wyle and LaNasa received nominations again this year. The series also saw Taylor Dearden, Fiona Dourif, and Sepideh Moafi nominated, with "The Pitt" claiming four out of the seven spots in the supporting actress category. Three of their male castmates, Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, and Gerran Howell, were nominated for best supporting actor.

For "Hacks," star Jean Smart is aiming for her fifth consecutive win for best actress in a comedy, having won the award for all four previous seasons. Co-star Hannah Einbinder, who won supporting actress in a comedy last year, earned her fifth nomination. The show's co-creator, Paul W. Downs, also received a nomination.

Other notable series recognized include "Pluribus" from "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan, which earned 18 nods, and "Widow's Bay" with 19 nominations. Netflix's "Beef" led the limited or anthology series categories with 16 nominations.

It was previously announced that "Law & Order: SVU" star Mariska Hargitay will host the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, scheduled to air on September 14. Hargitay, a veteran of television and a multiple Emmy nominee herself, has been a signature personality on "Law & Order: SVU" since 1999.
