2026 Taoyuan Film Festival: 'Double Lin' win top acting honors, Shen Keshan sweeps 3 awards

The 2026 Taoyuan Film Festival concluded with "Deeply Quiet" and "96 Minutes" each securing three awards, marking a successful event for the participating filmmakers. Director Shen Keshan emerged as the biggest winner, taking home three accolades for his contributions to both a narrative feature and a documentary.

The prestigious Best Film award was presented to the documentary "One Life, Two Fates," directed by Chen Kuan-chun. Meanwhile, the lead acting awards recognized outstanding performances, with Lin Po-hung winning Best Actor for his role in "96 Minutes" and Ariel Lin earning Best Actress for her performance in "Deeply Quiet." The film "96 Minutes" also garnered awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Special Effects.

Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng expressed his gratitude to the festival's ambassadors and emphasized the city's commitment to enhancing the film festival's content and expanding film industry exchanges. He stated that the local government will continue to support emerging audiovisual talent, ensuring that more outstanding works gain recognition and further solidify the Taoyuan Film Festival's brand.

Shen Keshan shared his thoughts on his multiple wins, noting that the prize money from the documentary award would fund his next project, while the earnings from "Deeply Quiet" would help compensate its investors. He acknowledged the challenges of box office performance for festival-oriented films but expressed particular delight in Ariel Lin's Best Actress win, highlighting their continued discussions about character interpretation even after the film's release.

The festival saw a significant international presence, with 261 entries from 17 countries and regions competing for 13 awards. "One Life, Two Fates" was lauded by the jury for its high degree of documentary completion and narrative courage, offering a warm and impactful life story that transcends a mere observer's perspective. Award-winning films will be screened for free at the Zhongli Light and Shadow Cinema from the 25th to the 27th.
