2026 World Cup: Here are the Round of 32 matchups

The 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, is entering its decisive phase as the group stage wraps up. A total of 30 teams have secured their spots in the first knockout round, with 23 advancing as group leaders or runners-up, and seven qualifying as the best third-place teams.

Notable teams that have advanced include Mexico, Switzerland, Canada, Brazil, the United States, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, and England. Joining them are Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Senegal, Ghana, and the Democratic Republic of Congo as top third-place finishers. The final two berths are being contested by Austria and Algeria.

This year's tournament features an expanded format with 48 participating nations, an increase from previous editions. The competition is now structured into 12 groups of four teams, with the top two from each group, along with the eight best third-place teams, advancing to the round of 32. This new structure leads to direct elimination matches until the final.

The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, at 4 p.m. local time at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
