2027: APC reopens e-registration nationwide

Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to relaunch its nationwide electronic membership registration exercise on August 31, 2026. This move signals the party's intensified preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The registration will cover all wards across the country, encompassing both existing and prospective members. Current members will be required to validate their records, while new individuals will be formally registered. APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka stated the exercise aims to create a dependable, digitally managed membership register.

Morka emphasized that the initiative will bolster the party's organizational framework and enhance its planning capabilities. "The e-registration exercise is designed to digitize the party's membership register, ensure the integrity of membership records, enhance efficient access to membership data for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy, and strengthen the party’s commitment to democratic innovation in Nigeria," he said.

Participation is open to Nigerians aged 18 and above who possess a valid National Identification Number. This requirement underscores the importance of digital identity in the process. The APC's focus on electronic registration reflects a broader trend of utilizing digital systems for managing large membership bases in political parties, especially in the lead-up to elections.

An accurate membership database is considered crucial for the APC, which currently holds federal and several state government positions.
