2027: Ebonyi commissioner resigns, rejoins PDP

Felix Igboke, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring, has resigned from his position and rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Igboke announced his defection on Sunday during a PDP gathering in Onicha Local Government Area, stating he brought "more than 10,000 supporters" with him.

I am happy to return to the political platform that built me. I served as a councillor, development centre coordinator, and chairman of Onicha Local Government Area under the same party before joining the APC.

Describing his return to the PDP as a "homecoming," Igboke emphasized that his political career began with the party. He explained his decision was driven by the need to align with a political platform that would advance the interests of the people and foster inclusive development within the state. Igboke expressed gratitude to the PDP family in Ebonyi, particularly mentioning the party's governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii, as the "incoming governor."

The state chairman of the PDP, Chukwuma Igwe, welcomed the defectors, characterizing Igboke's return as a major boost to the party's prospects in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Igwe asserted that the PDP has regained its strength across the state and is well-positioned to reclaim power in the next election cycle, citing the influx of supporters as evidence of growing public confidence.

Eni-Uduma Chima, the PDP's candidate for the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency seat in 2027, also commented on the party's rapid growth in Ebonyi. Chima urged party members to maintain unity and focus on strengthening the party's grassroots structures.
