2027: I have no candidate yet, won’t support APC — Davido

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has declared he has no preferred presidential candidate for Nigeria's 2027 general elections and will not endorse the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

My uncle, immediately he won, came out to declare his support for Tinubu, but for me, I’m not propelled to support anybody. I personally haven’t seen anybody.

During an interview on News Central TV, Davido stated his political convictions remain independent, even as his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu. "My uncle, immediately he won, came out to declare his support for Tinubu, but for me, I’m not propelled to support anybody. I personally haven’t seen anybody," Davido said.

Davido recalled his past political engagements, including supporting opposition figures and cross-party alignments in previous elections. He mentioned campaigning for the APC in 2015 when his late uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, was part of the party. However, he stressed that his current stance is uncommitted, with the exception of the ruling party. "Right now I don’t have a presidential candidate. It might change, but it’s not going to be APC. Everybody should have their choice," he added.

In the past, yes, I’ve supported Atiku before when we were in PDP, and I supported in 2015 when APC first did the merger; my late uncle Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon) was part of the APC, I campaigned then.

Davido's comments follow his significant role in the Osun State election cycle, where he mobilized voters and advocated for transparent election results. Governor Adeleke's support for Tinubu is reportedly based on the President's Yoruba heritage and his administration's reforms and infrastructure projects in the South-West.
