2027: NDC Denies Diverting Aspirant Levies and Donations

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has rejected allegations that it diverted levies and donations collected from aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling the claims a campaign of misinformation and propaganda.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, National Publicity Secretary Osa Director said all contributions were paid into the party’s designated account and managed by the appropriate party organs. He said the NDC, as a new party without elected officeholders, needed financial support from aspirants, stakeholders, members and other supporters to build its operations.

This is provided for in the party’s constitution.”

The spokesman also defended National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson against allegations that he personally demanded or received money from aspirants. Director said the contributions were received, receipted and accounted for, and that Dickson had not taken money for personal use.

The party said voluntary contributions and levies were necessary for an opposition platform seeking to build a nationwide structure and field candidates without access to the resources available to incumbent administrations. It also said it would render a full account of its finances as required by the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.
