2027: Oyo APC sets up reconciliation committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has launched a reconciliation committee to address internal disputes arising from the recently concluded party primaries. This initiative aims to heal divisions and ensure unity within the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The committee, composed of elder statesmen and prominent citizens, will reach out to aspirants and stakeholders who feel their grievances have not been addressed. The goal is to foster an environment conducive to a strong showing in the upcoming elections. The APC's state Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, announced the formation of the committee, emphasizing its role in mending fences.

The reconciliation committee, upon its inauguration later this week, will be tasked with meeting all relevant stakeholders, including aspirants who are dissatisfied with the outcome of the recent primaries that produced the APC’s candidates for the next general elections.

Notable members of the committee include Senators Olufemi Lanlehin, Brimo Yusuf, Hosea Agboola, and Akin Oke, along with former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Prof. Afolabi Oladapo, and other community leaders. The committee is set to be inaugurated this week by the state Chairman of the party, Moses Adeyemo. Its mandate includes engaging with all individuals who sought party tickets but were unsuccessful.

This move comes as the APC governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, officially received his nomination form and unveiled his running mate, Adesoji Adedeji. The APC hopes this reconciliation effort will lead to a "resounding victory" in the next general elections.
