2027: Political contests shouldn’t divide Nigerians, APC chairman warns

The National Chairman of Nigeria's All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has issued a strong appeal to politicians and their supporters to place national unity and brotherhood above all political contests.

Yilwatda emphasized that political differences are transient and should never be allowed to fracture the bonds that unite Nigerians. He asserted that the strength of brotherhood and national unity must always supersede electoral competition.

In a statement released as his Eid-ul-Mawlid message, Yilwatda encouraged citizens to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad. He highlighted the enduring relevance of the Prophet's virtues, compassion, tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence, as a pathway to healing and renewed hope amidst Nigeria's current challenges.

The APC chairman also urged Nigerians to embrace the nation's diversity as a source of strength and to actively resist any attempts to exploit ethnic, religious, or political differences. He specifically warned against division, intolerance, and violence as the country approaches the 2027 general elections, reiterating that no political contest should undermine the fundamental unity of the nation.

Furthermore, Yilwatda called upon the Muslim community to use the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid to pray for lasting peace, security, and prosperity in Nigeria. He also prayed for wisdom and courage for the nation's leaders, expressing optimism about Nigeria's potential, talent, and resilience despite its difficulties.
