2027: SDP Presidential Candidate Unveils Blueprint to Tackle Poverty and Insecurity

Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has presented a blueprint called “Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity,” arguing that Nigeria’s economic and security problems reflect failures of past leadership rather than natural limits.

Speaking at the public presentation in Abuja, Adebayo said a four-year term would give a focused administration enough time to achieve structural results. He compared the period with completing a university degree. The document centers on human development, economic productivity and localized infrastructure solutions.

Among its proposals, the blueprint sets out a path to generating 75,000 megawatts of electricity, establishing four functional public refineries and creating 36 modular refineries. The party’s vice-presidential candidate, Usman Bugaje, said Nigerian professionals perform strongly worldwide while the country lags behind regional peers in areas such as energy production. He said proactive leadership was needed as Nigeria’s population is projected to reach roughly 400 million over the next 25 years. On agriculture, Bugaje said Nigerian productivity stood at five to six metric tonnes per hectare, compared with about 20 metric tonnes across Africa and five to six metric tonnes in Rwanda, although the supplied text ends mid-sentence.
