27th Arab Women's Basketball Championship kicks off in Alexandria with 10 clubs from 7 nations

Alexandria, Egypt, is set to host the 27th Arab Club Championship for Women's Basketball, commencing on August 3, 2026. The tournament, which will run until September 12, 2026, is being held at the Sporting Club in Alexandria.

Ahmed Hassan, president of Sporting Club, announced that the championship is organized in collaboration with the Arab Basketball Federation. He highlighted the extensive preparations made to ensure the event is a success and reflects positively on the region. Ten clubs representing seven Arab nations will compete.

The Arab Women's Basketball Championship is held in cooperation with the Arab Basketball Federation.

The participating teams include Sporting Club (Egypt, host), Al-Baharia Hussein Dey (HDM) and El-Tarbia Staifia (MTS) from Algeria, Al-Qrain Sports Club from Kuwait, and Al-Fatat Sports Club from Kuwait. Also competing are Sharjah Sports Club for Women (UAE), Al-Wahda Sports Club (Syria), Al-Gharafa Sports Club (Qatar), Al-Qadisiyah Sports Club (Saudi Arabia), and Al-Jazira Sports Club (Egypt).

Sporting Club has finalized its preparations in coordination with both the Arab and Egyptian basketball federations to host a tournament befitting the stature of Egypt and the club. In a related development, the Sporting Club women's team secured third place in the domestic league for the 2026 season, showcasing strong performance throughout the competition.
