3 Asians busted over rogue taxi runs

Kuwait's General Traffic Department conducted extensive field campaigns nationwide, issuing around 3,000 traffic violation citations and impounding 31 vehicles within a single 24-hour period. The violations encompassed a range of offenses, including mobile phone use while driving, failure to wear seatbelts, speeding, and illegal window tinting.

In a notable development, officers apprehended three Asian expatriates operating unlicensed taxi services, transporting passengers in their private vehicles for money. These individuals and their seized vehicles are undergoing legal proceedings.

Furthermore, intensified traffic and security campaigns conducted from July 13 to 19 across all governorates aimed to bolster traffic discipline and road safety. These efforts led to 23,567 traffic citations, the detention of 29 individuals, referral of nine juveniles to prosecution, and the impoundment of 271 vehicles and four motorcycles. Patrols also responded to 2,632 reports and 927 collisions, including 164 injury accidents. Additionally, authorities arrested individuals suspected of drug possession and abnormal behavior, along with numerous residency law violators, those without identification, and wanted persons and vehicles.

Separate campaigns from July 12 to 18 by the Traffic and Operations Sector resulted in 1,943 operations. These included the arrest of 32 wanted individuals, seizure of 13 wanted vehicles, and apprehension of 16 residency law violators. The sector also issued 1,115 traffic citations, impounded two vehicles, responded to 149 accident reports, and provided 1,017 instances of humanitarian assistance.
