30-Year-Old Arrested Again for Drunk Driving After Prison Sentence

A 30-year-old man in Eumseong, South Korea, faces renewed charges for driving under the influence after a history of similar offenses. The suspect was apprehended by Eumseong Police on July 20, 2026, and has been sent for prosecution on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.

According to police reports, the man was driving his SUV in Eumseong-eup, Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, around midnight on June 10. At the time of the incident, his blood alcohol content was measured at a severe 0.199%, significantly exceeding the legal limit.

The incident occurred when the suspect collided with a parked vehicle on the roadside and attempted to flee the scene. However, a witness who observed the accident reported the incident to the police, leading to the man's arrest as a 현행범 (in the act).

Further investigation revealed that the man had been previously convicted for drunk driving on three separate occasions, resulting in a prison sentence. He was reportedly released on parole in March of the current year, making his latest offense a violation of his parole conditions and demonstrating a clear disregard for the law and public safety.
