30s arrested and indicted for throwing water bottle at preliminary city council candidate from 8th-floor rooftop

A 30-year-old office worker has been arrested and indicted for allegedly throwing a water bottle from the rooftop of an eight-story building at a preliminary candidate for the Seongnam City Council. The incident occurred on May 12 around 8:20 a.m. near Migeum Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

The suspect, identified as Mr. K, allegedly became enraged when the candidate, Mr. N, responded to his request for information about campaign pledges by suggesting he consult a pamphlet. In his anger, Mr. K reportedly went to a nearby rooftop and threw a 500ml plastic bottle filled with water at Mr. N, who was campaigning below.

The water bottle landed near the candidate, and fortunately, no one was injured. Mr. K has been arrested and charged with violating the Public Official Election Act for obstructing election freedom. The prosecution is seeking a conviction and appropriate punishment for the suspect's actions.
