32-year veteran actor Kim Jae-rok revealed as surprise 'Behemoth' character

Veteran actor Kim Jae-rok has left a strong impression in director Yeon Sang-ho's latest film, 'The Behemoth,' portraying a 60-year-old former track and field athlete. The movie centers on survivors trapped in a building during an unidentified infection outbreak, facing off against uniquely evolving infected creatures.

Kim's character, initially appearing as the oldest and least prominent member of the survivor group led by Jeon Ji-hyun's character, Kwon Se-jeong, undergoes a dramatic transformation. He volunteers without hesitation for a mission to disrupt the infected and demonstrates surprising agility and intelligence in combating them, serving as a significant plot twist that captivates the audience.

With 32 years in the industry since his debut in 1994, Kim Jae-rok has a diverse acting portfolio. He has appeared in films such as 'Christmas in August,' 'Microhabitat,' and 'Ransomed,' as well as dramas like 'I'm Still Not at My Best,' 'The Law Cafe,' and 'The Witch's Class.'

This role in 'The Behemoth' follows his previous collaboration with director Yeon Sang-ho in the film 'Face,' where Kim played Baek Ju-sang, a corrupt business owner. In that role, he skillfully depicted the inner turmoil of a despicable character who, despite aging and suffering from a stroke, found amusement in his past misdeeds.

Meanwhile, 'The Behemoth' continues its successful run at the box office, topping the charts for 20 consecutive days by drawing 44,403 viewers on June 9. The film has accumulated a total of 4,823,944 admissions.
