38 Taxi Drivers Charged in Connection with Smukfest Festival

Danish police have taken action against 38 taxi drivers during controls conducted in connection with the Smukfest music festival. The charges filed encompass a range of offenses, highlighting issues with compliance and safety within the local taxi services operating during the event.

While many of the citations relate to technical violations, some drivers face more serious accusations. One individual was charged with operating a taxi without the necessary permit, a violation that carries a substantial fine of 35,000 Danish kroner. Another driver was apprehended for driving with narcotics in their system, posing a clear risk to public safety.

This crackdown is not unprecedented, as police also conducted similar checks during Smukfest last year. In that operation, 42 vehicles were inspected, resulting in 17 taxis being prohibited from further commercial operation due to various infractions. The ongoing enforcement aims to ensure adherence to regulations and maintain standards for transportation services during large public gatherings.
