4 of family killed after being hit by speeding SUV on Jaipur highway

A family's return from their fields turned to tragedy on the Fagi-Chaksu Road in Jaipur district when a speeding SUV collided with them, killing four members and injuring another. The deceased were identified as Satyanarayan, 65, his wife Manmouj, 60, and their daughters-in-law Amrita Devi, 35, and Shimla Devi, 23.

Satyanarayan's son, Badrinarayan Kumhar, 38, survived the impact but witnessed the devastating loss. He recounted being thrown aside by the vehicle, while his parents and sisters-in-law were crushed. "I was thrown away by the impact of the Bolero, but my parents, my wife and my younger brother’s wife were crushed before my eyes," he said.

Following the accident, local residents expressed their outrage by blocking the highway. They demanded ₹1 crore in compensation and government jobs for the families of each deceased person. Police and officials engaged with the protesters, eventually clearing the road after discussions.

Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and assured that officials had been directed to provide all possible assistance to the grieving families. Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal also offered condolences and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Police are actively working to trace the driver, who fled the scene after abandoning the SUV.
