426 New Police Officers Graduate in Mexico City; Economic Stimulus Announced for World Cup Work

Mexico City has welcomed 426 new police officers into its ranks, bolstering the ranks of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC CDMX). The graduating class includes 399 officers trained in proximity policing and 27 specializing in correctional services.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Mexico City Police University, was presided over by Head of Government Clara Brugada Molina and Public Security Secretary Pablo Vázquez Camacho. The new officers, representing generations 298 and 299, were lauded for their commitment to public service.

Men and women brave who have chosen to make public service their way of life and who today join the ranks of the Mexico City Police to strengthen the 72 police sectors, the Metropolitan Police units, and security in the Penitentiary System, but above all to contribute their youth, their innovative vision, their dreams, and their transformative energy to the permanent strengthening of this institution.

Secretary Vázquez Camacho emphasized that these new recruits bring valuable youth, innovative perspectives, and transformative energy to the institution. He also acknowledged the role of the Mexico City Police University in building peace and training law enforcement professionals. The graduating class comprises 194 women and 232 men.

In recognition of their successful efforts during the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup, Head of Government Brugada announced an extraordinary economic stimulus for all police officers and operational staff. This bonus, expected by mid-September, acknowledges their dedication and achievements during the major international event. Additionally, Brugada announced a request for the publication of the 2026 promotion competition, offering career advancement opportunities for uniformed personnel.
