'4th inning 21 points' Deoksu High School wins Phoenix Flag opener 42-0

Deoksu High School has secured a resounding victory in the 54th Phoenix Flag National High School Baseball Tournament, defeating Daegu Bukgu SC with an overwhelming score of 42-0 in a five-inning mercy rule win. The game, held at Guui Stadium in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, saw Deoksu High School dominate from the outset.

The team established an early lead with five runs in the first inning, adding three more in the second and ten in the third, surpassing double-digit scoring. Their offensive onslaught continued in the fourth inning with an astonishing 21 runs, pushing their total past 30. They concluded the game with three more runs in the fifth inning, finalizing the score at 42-0.

Deoksu High School's offense was relentless, tallying 34 hits and drawing 12 walks, overwhelming the opposing pitching staff. Key offensive contributors included Hong Ju-yong, who hit two home runs among his six hits for three RBIs and four runs. Jo Won-bin recorded six hits with five RBIs, while Park Jong-hyuk also contributed five hits and three RBIs.

On the mound, starting pitcher Choi Hee-seong delivered a stellar performance, allowing only two hits and no walks over five scoreless innings. Deoksu High School, already champions of the Shinsegae E-Mart Cup and the Presidential Cup this year, now sets its sights on winning the Phoenix Flag tournament, the last national competition of the year. In contrast, Daegu Bukgu SC, founded in 2024, faced a significant gap in experience and skill against the established Deoksu High School team.
