50 years of Jeonbuk history research: Jeonbuk Historical Society holds 50th anniversary academic conference

The Jeonbuk Historical Society is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a commemorative academic conference on November 27. Titled "50 Years of Jeonbuk History: Retrospect and Prospect," the event aims to reflect on the society's research accomplishments and chart a course for its future endeavors.

Since its establishment on August 27, 1976, the society has been instrumental in deepening the study of Korean, East Asian, and Western history. Crucially, it has also cultivated a distinct academic field known as 'Jeonbuk Studies,' focusing on the unique history and culture of the Jeonbuk region.

Through this academic conference, we aim to reflect on the scholarly achievements and assets that the Jeonbuk Historical Society has accumulated.

As the leading historical academic organization in Jeonbuk, the society publishes the journal 'Jeonbuk History' three times a year and hosts regular research presentations. These activities contribute to the advancement of regional historical research and the nurturing of new scholars.

The upcoming conference will delve into the research trends and achievements of the past 50 years, with a particular focus on papers published in 'Jeonbuk History.' Professors from Jeonbuk University and Jeonju University will present findings across various historical periods, including ancient, Goryeo, Joseon, and modern Korean history. The event will also include reflections from past executives and senior researchers who have contributed to the society's growth, alongside a Pansori performance.
