7 Killed in Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russian Regions

Seven people died and 51 were injured in Russia overnight due to Ukrainian drone attacks targeting infrastructure and military sites. Russian officials reported the casualties on Saturday, as Ukraine continues its aerial campaign aimed at disrupting Moscow's war efforts. The attacks struck two large warehouses belonging to the online retailer Wildberries, one in Kotovsk in the Tambov region and another in Elektrostal, east of Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strikes on Telegram, identifying them as hitting "significant logistical facilities in the Moscow and Tambov regions." He asserted that these facilities supplied sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment. An oil facility was also reportedly hit, according to The Associated Press. Zelenskyy also mentioned separate Ukrainian special operations targeting areas in the Sea of Azov and occupied territories.

In Kotovsk, seven night shift workers were killed and 25 others wounded at a warehouse, according to Tambov regional governor Yevgeny Pervyshov. The city of Elektrostal saw 24 people injured, as reported by Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov. Additionally, two people were wounded in Noginsk, near Elektrostal, where an oil depot caught fire following a drone strike. A nearby maternity hospital and a residential building were evacuated as a precaution. In Vladimir, a drone hit a residential building, causing a brief fire but no casualties, according to Governor Alexander Avdeyev.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its air defenses intercepted 379 Ukrainian drones over 19 Russian regions, Crimea, the Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea during the night.
