7 suspects arrested over double murder, robbery in Herat

Security officials in the western Afghan province of Herat announced the arrest of seven individuals suspected of a brutal double murder and robbery. The incident, which occurred about 20 days ago in Langar village of Zindajan district, claimed the lives of a young man and his mother.

These individuals entered the house of one of the residents of Langar village in Zindajan district, first killed a young man in front of his mother, and then killed the mother after tying her hands and covering her mouth.

According to Dr. Syed Masood Hosseini, the provincial police spokesman, the perpetrators forcibly entered the victims' home. They first killed the young man in front of his mother before subsequently killing the mother after restraining her. Following the murders, the suspects stole cash and jewelry from the residence before fleeing the scene.

Extensive investigations and a coordinated operation by security and intelligence forces were launched immediately after the crime was reported. These efforts led to the identification and apprehension of all seven suspects. Dr. Hosseini confirmed that all arrested individuals have confessed to their involvement during preliminary interrogations.

The case is now being transferred to the judicial and legal authorities for further processing and prosecution. The motive behind the attack appears to be robbery, with the perpetrators stealing valuables after committing the murders.
