71 Foreign Nationals Detained, Fined Over 600,000 Soms at Bishkek Construction Sites

Bishkek authorities conducted an illegal migrant operation, inspecting more than 20 construction sites across the Kyrgyz capital and detaining 71 foreign nationals. The operation, aimed at enforcing migration legislation, led to administrative violation reports being drawn up for 64 individuals.

These 64 foreign nationals were subsequently fined, with the total amount exceeding 600,000 soms for breaches of migration laws. An additional seven individuals were taken to a temporary detention facility due to their inability to provide documentation proving the legality of their stay in Kyrgyzstan.

Beyond the fines imposed on the migrants themselves, the operation also targeted employers. Two employers faced penalties, resulting in a combined fine of 130,000 soms for violations related to the employment of foreign nationals. The Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek reported the outcomes of the operation.
