A co-presidency for Geneva's Socialists

The socialists of Geneva have chosen a new leadership duo, electing Amanda Gavilanes and Cyril Mizrahi as co-presidents of the cantonal party. This decision was made during an extraordinary general assembly held in Geneva on Saturday. Gavilanes and Mizrahi will succeed Thomas Wenger, who is completing his term as president.

Amanda Ojalvo has been appointed as vice-president. The newly elected steering committee will serve a two-year mandate, as announced by the party, often referred to by its rose symbol. This new leadership team is tasked with guiding the party through significant upcoming electoral challenges, including the federal elections in 2027 and the cantonal elections in 2028.

Gavilanes, born in 1983, has prior political experience as a deputy in the Geneva Grand Council from 2018 to 2023. She also co-chairs the Trois-Chêne/Arve and Lac section of the party. Mizrahi, born in 1979, has been a deputy since 2013 and currently co-chairs the party's ad hoc commission focused on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
