A-G proposes delaying Oct. 7 inquiry decision as government 'hasn't established one anyway'

Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara has proposed postponing the decision to establish a commission of inquiry into the October 7 Massacre, suggesting the matter be deferred until a new government is formed.

Baharav-Miara argued that the current election period would impede a timely decision. She also pointed out that the existing government had not yet established such a commission. This stance comes after the government informed the High Court of Justice that it had been unable to finalize legislation for its proposed commission due to the Knesset's demanding schedule before the election recess.

At that time, the government indicated it would revive the proposal after the October 27 election. It also requested the court dismiss petitions seeking a state commission of inquiry, leaving the decision to the voters.
