“A lifetime waiting for this day”: Óscar López shares emotional message after debut

Óscar López had waited his entire life for the moment, and when it arrived, the Bolivian midfielder marked it with a message of gratitude rather than celebration alone.

The 20-year-old made his debut in Spain’s top division for Getafe during a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo. His first minutes in LaLiga fulfilled one of the major dreams of his career after years of effort and sacrifice.

López also singled out the people closest to him, especially his family, for standing by him throughout the process. But he made clear that reaching the top flight was only a first step. “Now, to focus on the daily work and keep improving, because there is still a lot to do,” he said.

His appearance also added another Bolivian name to Spain’s highest division. López became the fourth Bolivian player to compete in the league, following Marco Etcheverry, Marco Sandy and Juan Manuel Peña. For him, the debut is both the result of a long process and the beginning of a new challenge: earning a regular place and continuing to grow in Spanish football.
