A spot on Lake Wörthersee? Only for millionaires now

Securing a spot on Lake Wörthersee is now a privilege reserved for millionaires, as prices for lakeside real estate in Carinthia have skyrocketed in recent years. A real estate agent specializing in these exclusive properties notes that the value of land has multiplied within just a few years. Almost all properties they sell now command prices starting from one million euros upwards. For those aspiring to purchase an apartment with direct lake access on Wörthersee, the financial commitment is substantial. According to Günther Seidl, a Carinthian real estate agent, entry-level prices currently hover around 14,000 euros per square meter. In the most desirable, prime locations, prices can even reach up to 25,000 euros per square meter. Plots of land that were valued at 1.5 million euros approximately 15 years ago are now fetching prices of up to seven million euros. Meanwhile, the Seeuferkommission (Lakeshore Commission) is working to preserve public access to the lake.
