“A succession of miracles”: Two workers rescued after nine days trapped in tunnel by avalanche on Nepal-Tibet border

Two workers were rescued after nine days trapped inside a tunnel by an avalanche on the border between Nepal and Tibet, an ordeal described as “a succession of miracles.”

The survivors have injuries to their hands and legs. Authorities told the BBC that the wounds may have resulted from crawling through the tunnel.

Rescuers also found a third body. Suresh Raut, deputy manager of the Nepal Electricity Authority, said the condition of the remains made identification difficult.
