Aadhaar App crosses 31 million downloads since launch

India's Aadhaar App is experiencing widespread adoption, with over 31 million downloads recorded in under five months since its release. This robust acceptance signals growing public confidence in the app's ability to provide essential services directly to citizens' smartphones.

The Aadhaar App is witnessing a robust acceptance among people across India with over 31 million downloads since it was launched less than five months back.

The Ministry of Electronics & IT highlighted that the app is designed to improve the ease of living by enabling users to manage various Aadhaar-related services conveniently. Key features include the ability to update mobile numbers and addresses directly from a smartphone. To date, nearly 4 million individuals have updated their mobile numbers, and approximately 850,000 have used the app for address changes.

Described as a privacy-first tool, the Aadhaar App allows users to display, share, and verify their identity seamlessly. It incorporates pro-people features such as a one-click biometric lock/unlock function, face verification for proof of presence, and an authentication history log. Additionally, a QR-based editable contact card facilitates easy sharing of contact information, reducing the need for physical business cards.

The app supports a diverse range of real-life applications, from hotel check-ins using QR code scanning to hospital admissions and identity verification for gig workers.
