ABC Commits 6 Million Bolivianos to Improve Dangerous Cerro Petacas

The Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras (ABC) has committed a significant investment of 6 million bolivianos to address the perilous conditions at Cerro Petacas, a notoriously dangerous stretch on the old route to the Valles Cruceños in Santa Cruz. This decision comes after persistent issues with accidents, loss of life, transport delays, and negative impacts on regional tourism, all stemming from the unstable terrain.

Recognizing Petacas as a high-risk zone prone to frequent mudslides and collapses, the ABC's intervention is a crucial step towards mitigating these dangers. The planned work is designed to prevent the recurring mazamorras and derrumbes that have tragically claimed lives and caused substantial economic damage. This proactive measure is vital for the safety of travelers and the economic vitality of the region.

Starting April 28, heavy machinery will be deployed to commence the improvement works. The ABC has announced that temporary road closures will be implemented for the safety of the transport sector during this period.
