Abduction: Gbajabiamila Leads Ribadu, IGP Disu, Two Others On FG’s Visit To Ogbomoso

A high-powered delegation from Nigeria's Federal Government, led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, visited Ogbomoso in Oyo State on Sunday. The visit followed the abduction of pupils and teachers from several schools on May 15, 2026.

Mr. President is deeply troubled by this incident. Whatever it takes, our children and teachers will be brought back home safely. He has issued all necessary directives and is providing every support required by our security agencies to achieve that objective.

The delegation, which included the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, conveyed President Bola Tinubu's deep concern over the incident. They assured residents of the government's commitment to securing the safe return of the victims.

President Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards for Oyo State as an immediate measure to bolster security. He has also directed a specialized security unit with advanced rescue capabilities to intensify efforts for the victims' release. The delegation informed community leaders that their request for a military base in the area would be conveyed to the president for consideration.
