Abduction investigation: Number of detainees rises

The investigation into the abduction of Erhan Karaal, Deputy General Manager of İBB Kültür A.Ş., has seen an increase in detentions, with 12 suspects now in custody. Karaal was forcibly taken by three unidentified individuals from in front of his home in Maltepe on Wednesday, June 17, at approximately 9:00 PM.

Istanbul police, specifically the Robbery Bureau of the Public Order Branch Directorate, launched an operation following the incident. Their efforts led to the successful rescue of Karaal and the subsequent arrest of multiple suspects believed to be connected to the kidnapping. Further operations have since expanded the number of detainees.

Initial reports suggest that the police are acting on the testimonies of the 10 suspects initially detained, along with ongoing investigative work, which led to the apprehension of two additional individuals. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to fully understand the circumstances and motives behind the abduction.
